One of the problems with fandom hopping is that occaisionally I'll get an ao3 comment, or an anon ask, asking if I would pretty please write a sequel to a fic-- and I have no idea how to respond. Because I know it's a compliment, and I know they probably sincerely want more of the thing, and they probably just read the thing, so it feels churlish to say 'I was in that fandom five years ago, and I honestly can't recall much of it. Sorry.'

(I recently got an anon ask wondering if I'd write a happy ending to one of my Angsty AUs-- and I wrote that AU several years ago, and while I'm in that fandom it's fairly tangential, so it's not like I'm in a good position to write a fix it fic sequel. And also that fic is embarassingly bad. But I know that if I wrote a fix it fic sequel, it would be better, and doesn't anon deserve some better fic? But, like, I only vaguely recall the canon.)

Oh man, I have that happen to me sometimes, with bonus weirdness because I mostly write fanfic completely unrelated to my own tastes; I do it mostly for others, according to their tastes and requests. (My favorite way to do this is anonymously. Then I get to just drop a present on their head and gallop off into the sunset like the Lone Writer, mwahaha.)

So half the time, my fics are based off Wiki binges, very old scattershot memory, and Youtube videos ANYWAY.
