Everywoman 2021

Hello, person who has matched with me, or is treating me! No matter what you make, I'm probably going to really like it, but I know it's much easier to come up with an idea if you've got some guidance.

Length is not related to how much I like any character or group, and more related to how much I can ramble about them off the top of my head.

For artists: most of my prompts should have specific art prompts, but even if they don’t, I would still love to get art for them! My art likes contains some general prompts, and feel free to use a fic prompt as a springboard for your art. Also, even for ships where I've given specific art prompts, if you would rather use some thing from my art likes or a fic prompt, feel free!

Keychain of Creation is a webcomic available for free, and it is relatively short. (5 hours worth of reading, if I had to guesstimate?)

We Know The Devil is a visual novel available $8 USD, and is 1.5-3 hours long depending on how fast you read.

Nirvana in Fire is available for-free-with-ads on Viki, and is live action series that is 54 45 minute episodes long. (I’m not going to say whether you could pick it up in time, but I might recommend one of the other to if you are picking up this request on short notice.)

General Likes:

  • I like the whole gamut from fluff with a minor conflict to angst that gets resolved to completely tragic tragedies. - Tragedies that are inevitable and tragedies where the ground work for them was laid well before anyone could predict the tragic outcome, so as soon as the characters know a tragic outcome is a possibility it is too late, are both very good. - As are bittersweet endings, or angst with a happy ending
  • Hurt/comfort (hurt/comfort > comfort no hurt > hurt no comfort.) - I like comforters who are being/trying to be relentlessly practical, or who express their care for the comfortee through actions more than words. - comforters and comfortees trying to be stoic (and not necessarily succeeding). - comforters and comfortees pretending that what is going on has nothing to do with one of them being hurt, they’re just being randomly nice/ they’re not hurt at all! - comfort after nightmares/panic attacks/other PTSD symptoms is very good. Especially nightmares. (Nightmares are such a good vehicle for revealing things about a character.) - As is comfort after more recent traumatic events, such as tending injuries after a battle or a character has been rescued from captivity - I am a big fan of the hurt being a character having a minor illness or injury that isn’t particularly concerning but does make them feel miserable
  • Mutual pining/wanting to get together but not be able because [reason], with [reason] being resolved at the end (example reasons: mistaken identity, “I am your boss and it would be unethical”, but in general I am not picky about this dynamic)
    • (Or, of course “I should not take advantage of you!” “You are very much not taking advantage of me, what are you talking about?”)
  • Kissing! Forehead kisses, kisses on the cheek, full on make outs: kissing is great!
  • Cuddling! I feel the same way about cuddling as I do about kissing! It’s all good. I especially like characters falling asleep leaning against each other. Or characters holding each other, or a character resting their cheek or chin against the other.
  • I like exploring the messed up dynamics and/or the terrible-idea-ness of the relationship, if applicable.
  • Characters giving into temptation, eg knowing that a particular relationship is a bad idea, or would be breaking their vow of chastity, but going into it anyway.
  • Politics! I love characters trying to navigate it, the tension between their political persona and they’re actual persona, the ethical dilemmas of power, all of it!
  • Loyalty, fealty, feudalism, ‘is it gay or just feudalism?’. Dramatic expression of loyalty. Intense loyalties, conflicted loyalties: they're all good.

  • As a general note: anything I’ve mentioned in my general likes (or smut likes), I also like in art. I’ve copied over most of the relevant likes over here as well, so they’re easy to find, but if there’s something in the above list that takes your fancy as something to put in art, go right ahead!
  • I am big fan on drawings/re-drawings of canon scenes. If you’ve got a moment in canon you’ve been dying to draw, I would love to see it.

Keychain of Creation

Oh, poor Keychain of Creation, gone the way of so many other webcomics—put on permanent hiatus before the author got a chance to finish it. Even so, it is a comic that is near and dear to my heart.

Keychain of Creation is an Exalted fan webcomic, that is to Exalted what a lot of DnD actual play podcasts are to DnD. It has an Exalted setting, with original characters and some original worldbuilding, and a fair amount taking the piss out of the Exalted setting. Exalted is a setting full of powerful heroes, given a fraction of a god’s power to go lay righteous smackdown. Our four heroes are on a quest to find the 5 Keys of Creation, to make sure no evildoers gain access to all five, and thus gain the ability to open any lock (including the ones holding back the eldritch abominations that want to destroy the world.) …They are not necessarily good at this.

I love the mix of proper Exalted flavour over-the-top action and the humour, combined with characters that are the right level of ‘Yep, I can see why this person was chosen as a champion of the gods’ while still coming across as human. …also I have a soft spot for the fact literally everyone has a sad backstory. (Feel free to wallow in the characters’ sad backstories. I love it.) As a note, considering this comic ended rather abruptly-- I am fine with any take on what happened after canon ended. If you want to set your fic or art after what we last saw in the comics, feel free to do so?

Marena

Romantic ships I like: Marena/Secret, Marena/Misho

Platonic ships I like: Marena & Secret, Marena & Karen, Marena & Aria, Marena & Racer

She’s such a fun loving, flirty character! And very caring too (though maybe not in such a ~broad, for all of humanity, way as Misho.) She really cares about her friends and those she considers family, and tries to help them.

I love open and expressive she is, and her hedonistic tendencies. She knows what she wants, and she’s gonna get it! (And she’s gonna take a more straight-laced partner along for the ride, if it happens!) I love her philosophising about being a Lunar, how she has divine permission to do whatever she wants and she’s going to do it.

And I also love that core of anger at her mother that informs everything she does.

For art, I'd be interested in art of her being affectionate with someone, a panel redraw, or a picture of her in a new costume.

Secret

Romantic ships I like: Marena/Secret, Secret/Karen

Platonic ships I like: Marena & Secret, Secret & Ten Winds, Secret & Misho, Secret & The King of Uncloaked Steel, Secret & Karen

I am a sucker for the shy retiring characters, what can I say? Especially if they 'should' be scary. I also love characters who are having to find out who they are, and I love the coming of age arc Secret has in canon.

I also really love Secret's crush on Marena! It's so great watching her go from being annoyed at her to be very heart-eyes. It's so cute. (And I am sucker both for crushes, and the dynamic of Very Shy Inexperienced Person/Confident and Ludicrously Experienced Person.)

I also lover her interactions with the rest of the group, and her mentor-mentee relationship with the King. The mentor-mentee relationship she has with Ten Winds and Karen is also very good!

For art, I'd be interested in an action piece with her, a panel redraw, her recieving some affection, or art of her in a new costume.

Karen

Romantic ships I like: Karen/Ten Winds, Karen/Secret,

Platonic ships I like: Marena & Karen, Karen & Secret, Karen & Misho

We don't get to see much of her, but I love her. I love her love for her sister that causes her to shake off her beliefs. I love how she's stoic and determined and badass... and how while that is totally true, some of that is just how she appears because she can't talk. (See: her melting when she thinks Ten Winds isn't looking). (Her crush on Ten Winds is great, I love it.)

I'm interested in her backstory, both in the Immaculate Order and the exact story of how she got her voice weaved into a banner (how did it go down? How did she feel about it?)

I also like the possibility of Misho acting as a mentor/friend to her, as a fellow solar.

For art, I'd be interested in a panel redraw, her being badass, or her being affectionate with someone.

Nirvana in Fire

I love all the politicking and high stakes of this show. The fate of a nation is at stake. And I love the [wiggle hands] strong moral feeling that pervades so much of this show. And I love the way the Chiyan case looms over everything, the court sliding into corruption, and all the characters trying to stop it.

And I also love the characters, and all their complexity. (It was hard picking just a few to request!) And I love the complex relationships between these characters.

General fandom note: One of the things I loved about this show was the high density of horses. If you would like to include horses in your are or fic, I would be delighted.

Mu Nihuang:

Romantic ships I like: Mu Nihuang/Lin Shu, Mu Nihuang/Xia Dong, Mu Nihuang/Xiao Jingyan

Platonic ships I like: Mu Nihuang & Xia Dong, Mu Nihuang & Xiao Jingyan, Mu Nihuang & Mu Qing

I love Mu Nihuang. I love her strength and her kindness, the way she knows how to play the game while limiting how much her hands get dirty. I love her fierce and tightly held on to independence.

I love all the ways the Chiyan case ripples through the lives of the characters, and how Lin Shu’s return shakes things up for them, and Mu Nihuang is no exception. Her life dramatically exploded during the Chiyan case, she’s only alive because her connection with Lin Shu was just enough not to count, she and Xia Dong drifted apart because of their differing opinions on the case, Jingyan was semi-exiled—A lot happened. I’d be interested in fic or art about that section of her back story.

I would also be interested in missing scenes from the canon time period, or things set in post canon. Repairing and regrowing relationships, grieving for what has been—or just having a Good Day For Once.

Art of her among flowers, kicking ass or riding a horse would be much appreciated.

Xia Dong:

Romantic ships I like: Mu Nihuang/Xia Dong, Xia Dong/Nie Feng

Platonic ships I like: Mu Nihuang & Xia Dong, Xia Dong & Xiao Jingyan, Xia Dong & Xia Jiang, Xia Dong & Xia Chun

I love her fierce competence. I love her slowly realising that the Xuanjing Bureau and Xia Jiang are not who she thought she was.

I also love her grappling with the effects of the Chiyan case, and the loss of her husband... and twelve years later, realising what she thought happened was not actually at all what happened. I’d be interested in fic that explored her grief, or explored her tentatively repairing the relationships that got exploded due to the Chiyan case.

Art of her among flowers, kicking ass or riding a horse would be much appreciated.

Liyang:

Romantic ships I like: Liyang/ Yuwen Lin, Liyang/Xie Yu (though in a dark way)

Platonic ships I like: Liyang & Her Children, Liyang & Madam Zhuo

I feel so sorry for Liyang! Her life is a ridiculous cavalcade of misery. I love the ways she manages to make the best of her shitty, shitty situation. She’s fascinatingly complex, especially with her relationship to her family.

I’d be interested in fic that explores her relationship with her children (either individually or as a group.) She has such a fierce love for them, and it’s great. I’d love to see fic or art of them just spending time together. I’m also interested in her relationship with Xie Yu. There’s definitely some love there, even if it’s due to proximity and pragmatism it’s still... there and interesting.

I’m also interesting in her relationship with Madam Zhuo. They’re such good friends... and Liyang seriously betrayed her and can never ever say anything about it, and I think that’s an interesting tension.

I am very much here for fic or art Liyang Having a Good Day For Once, whether that’s via fix it AU or just having a non-terrible day in the canon-verse.

For art, I’d be interested in art of her spending time with any of the characters listed in the relationships I like above, or a portrait of her (especially if there’s focus on her clothes. I love her fashion.)

Group: Xia Dong and Mu Nihuang

I requested both of these characters individually, and if you want to make something about only one these characters I will love it, don’t worry. But I do also quite like the relationship between the both of them. I’m interested in both romantic and platonic versions of their relationship.

I love the pre-Chiyan case relationship they are implied to have, and the closeness between them. They’ve got a lot of similarities between each other as brilliant martial women in a male-dominated society, and I think it would be interesting to explore that dynamic when they’re young, just entering the world, and nothing has dramatically gone wrong yet.

I’d also be interested in their relationship post-Chiyan case, either during the case or after it. Their on different sides of what happened, and in the first episode they talk about how that caused them to drift apart, and I’d love to see something exploring that. The pain of being separated from you friend, so shortly after you’ve lost your husband/fiancé. Those lonely years as you want to reconnect, get back what you lost, but there’s no way to bridge that gap.

For art, I’d be interested in art of them being affectionate, going horse riding together, or kicking ass together.

We Know the Devil

I love the character dynamics in this, and the ambient suckitude going on in their lives (excluding after the True Ending), the huge personal revelations happening in the middle of the night at summer camp. I also love the nightmare-logic Protestantism going on. As someone who likes bad things happening to characters that maybe get made better, and religious themes, this is very much a canon made for me!

And did I mention the characters? I love them all, especially Venus. They are the best worst girls. I love the layers to them, and how they are all more than what they initially seem to be. There all observant, and they care deeply about wrong and right, but they don’t necessarily have the power to change things (until the true ending, that is.) And they all need a hug. I like psychological/religious/body horror aspects of canon, and the implied story of having to work out how to live your life after the revelation of being the Devil.

I am quite happy for fic or art for any of the routes/endings

Venus, Jupiter, Neptune

I am happy with any shippy or gen combination of these characters, as well as things focused on just one of them.

For Venus/Jupiter, I love the dynamic they have as the ‘best’ kids of Group West, who are really bad at being actually good. They may seem more good from the outside than Neptune, but... And the Seven Minutes In Heaven scene, with it’s horrible awkwardness and the tension between what they want to want and what they actually do and the near strangulation is so good. As is the conversation they have about authority and not having to touch someone to touch them.

For Venus/Neptune, just as Venus+Jupiter is the better kids vs the bad kid, Venus+Neptune is the bad kids vs the good kid who failed, and that’s so good. And I love how insightful they are with each other even if they don’t fully get it (eg the “your kindness will be full of that want” conversation, while Venus is trying to comfort Neptune as best she can.) And the contrast between rule breaking Neptune and “That’s! I’m! Illegal!” Venus is so great too.

For Neptune and Jupiter, I love the [wiggle hands] seeming opposites attract thing. Their scene in the closet is so good, and that layer of pretense and hiding and love in their relationship is great.

And I love all three, and I love them all being in a relationship. The way they work together, the way in the true ending they all lift each other up and try to make the camp/the world a better place, being the worst girls since Eve... It’s so good, I love it.
