Hello, person who has matched with me, or is treating me! No matter what you make, I'm probably going to really like it, but I know it's much easier to come up with an idea if you've got some guidance.

Length of prompts is not related to how much I like any character or group, and more related to how much I can ramble about them off the top of my head. Also, feel free to do whatever you want. If for example, I mention wanting fluff for a character, but you have an angsty idea you really want to do, go for it!

The Cthulhu Mythos is large and sprawling, but it does contain short stories and novellas that can stand on there own. I can recommend The Shadow Over Innsmouth by HP Lovecraft as a stand alone novella, freely available on Project Gutenberg, that would give you the information you need to write fic about the Deep Ones.

General Likes:

• I like the whole gamut from fluff with a minor conflict to angst that gets resolved to completely tragic tragedies. - Tragedies that are inevitable and tragedies where the ground work for them was laid well before anyone could predict the tragic outcome, so as soon as the characters know a tragic outcome is a possibility it is too late, are both very good. - As are bittersweet endings, or angst with a happy ending
• Hurt/comfort (hurt/comfort > comfort no hurt > hurt no comfort.) - I like comforters who are being/trying to be relentlessly practical, or who express their care for the comfortee through actions more than words. - comforters and comfortees trying to be stoic (and not necessarily succeeding). - comforters and comfortees pretending that what is going on has nothing to do with one of them being hurt, they’re just being randomly nice/ they’re not hurt at all! - comfort after nightmares/panic attacks/other PTSD symptoms is very good. Especially nightmares. (Nightmares are such a good vehicle for revealing things about a character.) - As is comfort after more recent traumatic events, such as tending injuries after a battle or a character has been rescued from captivity - I am a big fan of the hurt being a character having a minor illness or injury that isn’t particularly concerning but does make them feel miserable
• Mutual pining/wanting to get together but not be able because [reason], with [reason] being resolved at the end (example reasons: mistaken identity, “I am your boss and it would be unethical”, but in general I am not picky about this dynamic)
  • (Or, of course “I should not take advantage of you!” “You are very much not taking advantage of me, what are you talking about?”)
• Kissing! Forehead kisses, kisses on the cheek, full on make outs: kissing is great!
• Cuddling! I feel the same way about cuddling as I do about kissing! It’s all good. I especially like characters falling asleep leaning against each other. Or characters holding each other, or a character resting their cheek or chin against the other.
• I like exploring the messed up dynamics and/or the terrible-idea-ness of the relationship, if applicable.
• Characters giving into temptation, eg knowing that a particular relationship is a bad idea, or would be breaking their vow of chastity, but going into it anyway.
• Politics! I love characters trying to navigate it, the tension between their political persona and they’re actual persona, the ethical dilemmas of power, all of it!
• Loyalty, fealty, feudalism, ‘is it gay or just feudalism?’. Dramatic expression of loyalty. Intense loyalties, conflicted loyalties: they're all good.
• Two characters sharing a body
• Dancing, either partner dances or just both people happening to dance at the same time.

• Religion, religious discussions and worldbuilding about religion.

13th Century Mongolian Empire RPF

I love historical fiction. I love horses and cavalry and horse based cultures. I love* empires and conquest the transition from winning territory to holding an empire together. And I love people who do what should be impossible, go from having nothing to having a global empire and a completely reshaped government to boot. I love family members having to follow in the footsteps of someone like that.

*in the sense of finding it interesting, not approving of it, of course

I’m fairly new to learning about the Mongolian Empire, so I’m not expecting anyone writing for me to be an expert either! Do not be intimidated, I am not going to be going over the fic with a fine toothed comb checking for historical accuracy.

Characters: Chinggis Khan, Jochi Khan, Berke Khan

Feel free to write whatever takes your fancy-- expanding on any historical episode, or making up a plausible event-- about these people, but some prompts as suggestion:

• I would love a fic about any of these people’s relationships with any of their family members
  • I am particularly interested in Jochi and Chinggis’. The fact Chinggis acknowledged him as his son, even though he was probably not! The way their relationship broke down towards the end of their lives! The last minute reconciliation!
• I’m really interested in Berke’s relationship with and conversion to Islam. It was definitely a political decision, but seeing as his mother was Muslim, there was a good chance there was sincere feeling there too? And I always love the tension between Religion as Politics and Relgion as Personal Relationship with The Divine.
• If you somehow work horses into a fic, I will love you forever. A fic about a person and their favourite horse? I would love it to pieces.

Cthulhu Mythos

One of the things I love about the mythos is how Big and Weird it can get-- both in the sense that it is a pretty large body of work, and because the world building goes hard on the eldritch and vast. I’m a big fan of cosmic horror, of people being a very small part of the universe, of characters not being prepared to face this but still having to live in it. I also love all the themes of things going on just behind the surface of the mundane world.

‘ I would love worldbuilding fic about any of your favourite entities/groups of entities in the Mythos! My particular faves are the Deep Ones, Shub-Niggurath, the Yithians and Miskatonic University, if you want guidance, but honestly, if your fave is [rolls dice] the Dreamlands, give me your Dreamlands fic!

Some more prompts: - For the deep ones, I’d be really interested in worldbuilding about their culture. I like sympathetic deep ones and/or deep ones that do things for Reasons that aren’t just cackling evilly, even if they don’t particularly align with human morality. - With the deep ones, I’m interested in the ways you can take the core seed of horror and change it from what Lovecraft intended. The horror of dark family secrets that will Come and Get You, but instead of it being ‘being mixed race,’ it’s the mental illness everyone pretends isn’t there, the incest everyone pretends isn’t there harder. Being gay and getting out of your small town culture that wants you dead and replaced with a body double, but being inevitably drawn back. The warring [I used to not want this at all] and the [the person I am now wouldn’t want anything else.] - I love people trying to vainly do Science to the mythos. Give me your Miskatonic researchers trying to categorise the eldritch and put it in a form they can understand! - I’d be interested in a Day In The Life of a Cultist. What does a low ranking member of a cult of [insert god here] do? What do they think is going on? Do they have any inkling of what’s actually going on? How do they feel about the Black Goat In The Woods With A Thousand Young? Was this just a fun group occult thing, nothing serious, but now they’re in too deep? We’re they always ready to dive in head first?

The Imperial Coroner

One of the things I really love about the show is all the character interactions, both shippy and platonic. They’re so fun!

I am happy for a fic that only contains one of the requested characters.

Chu Chu Romantic Relationships I like: Chu Chu/Leng Yue, Chu Chu/Jing Yi, Chu Chu/Xiao Jinyu, the OT4 *Gen relationships I like: Chu Chu & Any of the main cast, Chu Chu & Her Dad

I love how sweet and earnest she is. She’s so smart, and maybe not good with social cues, but she really does try to help people.

I’m a big fan of characters who are work with the dead. I love how she cares so much for people, even after they pass.

I would love some fluffy fic for her!

One of the things I like about Chu Chu/Jing Yi is playing with how the relationship would develop as he got over his initial disgust. When does he realise he doesn’t instinctively consider her dirty? What prompts that? Does it take time for his instincts and rational mind to come to an accord, in either direction? And how does Chu Chu feel about this? Does she notice the change, and when? How does she feel about liking someone who obviously considers her unclean?

I also like Leng Yue/Chu Chu. (When they had that husbands conversation in their first meeting, I was immediately sold on that ship!) Something I find interesting about their relationship is that Chu Chu has a lot of experience being rejected and unwanted, and so someone actually wanting to spend time with her and who is attracted to her is a bit headspinning. Meanwhile Leng Yue has the thing where she’s the most eligible bacholerette… but only because of being related to the grandfather she doesn’t even like. So someone who is interested in her for her and not political reasons is also a bit headspinning. Also there’s lot of opportunities for hurt/comfort, either physical or emotional (possibly with a bit of “No, I’m comforting you,” “No, I’m comforting you.”)

Jing Yi Gen Relationships I Like: Jing Yi & Chu Chu, Jing Yi & Xiao Jinyu, Jing Yi & Xiao Jinli, Jing Yi & Jing Zhi Romantic Relationships I Like: Jing Yi/Leng Yue, Jing Yi/Chu Chu, Jing Yi/Xiao Jinyu, the OT4

I love him so much! I’m a guaranteed fan of flirty hedonist characters who are serious and competent when the chips come down, and he is a wonderful example of it. I love the amount of joking around and ~physical comedy he does.

I would be really interested in a fic exploring his relationship with any of his friends or his family.

I’d also be interested in hurt/comfort or whump fic about him. He’s just so whumpable! He’d have a fun reaction! And he could attempt to brush off concerns with humor while his friends are very determined about looking after him.

I also really like Leng Yue/Jing Yi, and would be interested in fic about it. Maybe fic about their wedding, or fluff about an ordinary day with them?

Leng Yue is great, I love her. I love her strength of character and her determination and her competence, and the way she grapples with freedom versus responsibility, and also how she keeps being the straight man in the more comedic moments.

I also really like Leng Yue/Jing Yi, and would be interested in fic about it. Maybe fic about their wedding, or fluff about an ordinary day with them?

I would be also interested in fic about her relationships with Princess Xiping or Leng Peishan post canon. With Leng Peishan, they’re now talking to each other, but that isn’t going to instantly heal the rift between them. With Princess Xiping, there’s the way that relationships between children and caretakers evolve once the children have grown up.

Nirvana in Fire

I love all the politicking and high stakes of this show. The fate of a nation is at stake. And I love the [wiggle hands] strong moral feeling that pervades so much of this show. And I love the way the Chiyan case looms over everything, the court sliding into corruption, and all the characters trying to stop it. And I also love the characters, and all their complexity. (It was hard picking just a few to request!) And I love the complex relationships between these characters. General fandom note: One of the things I loved about this show was the high density of horses. If you would like to include horses in your are or fic, I would be delighted.

Mu Nihuang: * *Romantic ships I like: Mu Nihuang/Lin Shu, Mu Nihuang/Xia Dong, Mu Nihuang/Xiao Jingyan Platonic ships I like: Mu Nihuang & Xia Dong, Mu Nihuang & Xiao Jingyan, Mu Nihuang & Mu Qing

I love Mu Nihuang. I love her strength and her kindness, the way she knows how to play the game while limiting how much her hands get dirty. I love her fierce and tightly held on to independence. I love all the ways the Chiyan case ripples through the lives of the characters, and how Lin Shu’s return shakes things up for them, and Mu Nihuang is no exception. Her life dramatically exploded during the Chiyan case, she’s only alive because her connection with Lin Shu was just enough not to count, she and Xia Dong drifted apart because of their differing opinions on the case, Jingyan was semi-exiled—A lot happened. I’d be interested in fic or art about that section of her back story. I would also be interested in missing scenes from the canon time period, or things set in post canon. Repairing and regrowing relationships, grieving for what has been—or just having a Good Day For Once.

Xiao Jingrui Romantic ships I like: Xiao Jingrui/Yan Yujin, Xiao Jingrui/Mei Changsu Platonic ships I like: Xiao Jingrui & Liyang, Xiao Jingrui & Yan Yujin, Xiao Jingrui & Zhuo Qingyao, Xiao Jingrui & Mei Changsu, Xiao Jingui & Madam Zhuo, Xiao Jingrui & Xie Bi, Xiao Jingrui & Zhuo Qingyao

I love how Xiao Jingrui is so moral and just and tries to be a good person, and how in another show he would be the hero, but in NiF, he’s a victim of circumstance. He tries so hard, but that doesn’t keep stop him or his family from being hurt.

I love love h/c and whump for Jingrui. If you give me any flavour of those I would be very happy. Canon was plenty mean to him, yes, but that just showed that he suffers interestingly and we should do it to him more.

I also find the relationships he has between different family members very interesting. I would love a fic about that. Maybe a conversation between him and Liyang, or Madam Zhuo after he returns from Southern Chu?

Xiao Jingyan

Romantic ships I like: Xiao Jingyan/Mei Changsu, Xiao Jingyan/Mu Nihuang, Xiao Jingyan/Lie Zhanying Platonic ships I like: Xiao Jingayn & Mei Changsu, Xiao Jingyan & Mu Nihuang, Xiao Jingyan & Lie Zhanying, Xiao Jingyan & Consort Jing

I love him. He’s stoic and full of grief and rage that’s been worn down into his soul over the years. He tries to do what is right, regardless of the cost, and will not stop at all. I love the contrast between his morality and just how constantly angry he is at the state of the world.

I would love a fic exploring his grief. Him being isolated in it, or tentatively being able to share it with Mu Nihuang or his mother (...or Mei Changsu.)

I also love love whump and h/c for him. Pre canon, mid canon, post canon: it’s all good! I like stoic characters getting hurt and just having to get through it, or finding that this is the one thing out of all the things that makes them shatter. He is so good for it.

Top 5 Rat Movies I Made Up - JP Brammer: Legends of the Great Below

Rat Girl Hero and Worldbuilding I am happy for fic which only contains one of the requested tags.

So, there are two directions you can go with this, and I am equally hype for both of them.

One: I would be interested in a scene from the imaginary movie. Maybe the Rat Girl Hero setting out on her quest, having a dramatic confrontation with her father, or being knighted by the Queen. I would love that sort of “missing scene” fic.

Two: I love things written for/about imaginary fandoms. I love fan fiction written for movies that aren’t real. I love meta and shipping manifestos and arguments written for fake fandoms that don’t actually exist, and this fandom would be great for that. Some suggestions:

• Maybe in the direct to dvd special, there’s a vaguely antagonistic mostly rivalrous girl mouse, who migratory femslash fandom fell in love with. A fic or shipping manifesto would be great
• Or fix it fic between the Girl Rat Hero and her father (or “oh god I hate all these saccharine fix it fics, I’m going to make it worse” fics.)
• Meta about how the movie is a reverse journey into the underworld, with lots of cthonic motifs reversed, and it is that deep, damnit. (Fan #2: “It really isn’t that deep.” Fan #1 “It is that deep, I have citations!”)
• I’d be interested in worldbuilding of the story itself (eg a snippet of an in universe setting bible, a fic or discussion about the economics of the rat kingdom) or of the imaginary fandom around it (“Gather round, ye fanlings, for the tale of RatPrincess97 and how she dissolved the fandom into drama with just one fic...”)

We Know the Devil

I love the character dynamics in this, and the ambient suckitude going on in their lives (excluding after the True Ending), the huge personal revelations happening in the middle of the night at summer camp. I also love the nightmare-logic Protestantism going on. As someone who likes bad things happening to characters that maybe get made better, and religious themes, this is very much a canon made for me!

And did I mention the characters? I love them all, especially Venus. They are the best worst girls. I love the layers to them, and how they are all more than what they initially seem to be. There all observant, and they care deeply about wrong and right, but they don’t necessarily have the power to change things (until the true ending, that is.) And they all need a hug. I like psychological/religious/body horror aspects of canon, and the implied story of having to work out how to live your life after the revelation of being the Devil.

I am quite happy for fic or art for any of the routes/endings

Venus Gen Relationships I Like: Venus & Neptune, Venus & Jupiter, Venus & Jupiter & Neptune Romantic Relationships I Like: Venus/Neptune, Venus/Jupiter, Venus/Jupiter/Neptune

I love Venus, she’s my favourite! I love how perceptive she is (especially with the ways she’s sometimes more perceptive about others than herself) and her nervousness and fear of authority. Overall, she’s just such a great character. I’d be interested in both pre and post canon things for her.

For Venus/Jupiter, I love the dynamic they have as the ‘best’ kids of Group West, who are really bad at being actually good. They may seem more good from the outside than Neptune, but... And the Seven Minutes In Heaven scene, with it’s horrible awkwardness and the tension between what they want to want and what they actually do and the near strangulation is so good. As is the conversation they have about authority and not having to touch someone to touch them.

For Venus/Neptune, just as Venus+Jupiter is the better kids vs the bad kid, Venus+Neptune is the bad kids vs the good kid who failed, and that’s so good. And I love how insightful they are with each other even if they don’t fully get it (eg the “your kindness will be full of that want” conversation, while Venus is trying to comfort Neptune as best she can.) And the contrast between rule breaking Neptune and “That’s! I’m! Illegal!” Venus is so great too.

And I love all three, and I love them all being in a relationship. The way they work together, the way in the true ending they all lift each other up and try to make the camp/the world a better place, being the worst girls since Eve... It’s so good, I love it.
