A fandom discord I am in recently had a challenge: we would chose from a list of common (if often poorly done) fandom tropes, and write a fic. And then we would try and guess who wrote what fic afterwards.

I wrote three! One post apocalypse au for Double Life (randomly chosen) and two royalty AUs (not randomly chosen, and I was trying to impersonate specific people and ended up having Problems with the first attempt.)

Baoshan Sanren is not particularly surprised when she finds Xiao Xingchen standing there, supporting the weight of someone injured.

But he had the sort of ambitions, those desires to reach out and fix things that couldn’t be fixed, that would leave him in a situation like this. The front of his robes are covered in pink and red, fresh smears overlaying rust-dried stains. Xingchen carries himself like he is a few steps away from collapse, exhausted enough that his posture is wrong, like fatigue and distress have overridden long trained muscle memory to keep one’s back straight and one’s core flexible.

The person he half-carries looks worse.
