Feb. 7th, 2021 02:38 pmI just realised I’ve been putting all my fic writing updates on discord, and not on tumblr or dreamwidth. Woops!
First off: I wrote a whole lot of fic (and made a whole lot of art) for exchanges recently. Woo! But I’m taking a break from them for a little while. Not for any dramatic reason, mostly for reasons of ‘to every season, turn turn turn’ and ‘I’m not finding them motivating the way I used to’ and ‘I just want to write exactly what I want to write for a bit’.
I’ve been working on a big project, nicknamed ‘the jgy&mxy&nhs fic’ pending an actual title. It’s about… well, those three. The relationships between them. The parallels between the relationship of Jin Guangyao and Nie Huaisang before Nie Mingjue’s death, and the relationship both of them have with Mo Xuanyu now. Nie Huaisang being a massive hypocrite. (Because when he manipulates and uses Mo Xuanyu, he has reasons, but when Jin Guangyao does it, it’s just another sign he is the worst person ever. ) The first draft of it is 10k words already, the entire document is 2ik, and I have several more scenes to write. Help!
I’m alternating days between working on that and working on smaller fics. Both smaller fics in the pipeline are TGCF fics. I’m working on a short little “Xie Lian runs into White No Face post-second banishment, it goes about as well as you expect” and a longer “book 5 before Hua Cheng comes back + Xie Lian ends up delirious + Mu Qing has a lot of feelings about looking after Xie Lian + Xie Lian says some hella concerning things while delirious (is he… is he worried Hua Cheng wants to torture him?) (No.) + due to a confrontation about Concerning Statements, when he’s recovered and lucid, explains context of book four (’NO I’M NOT WORRIED ABOUT HUA CHENG TORTURING ME, WHAT THE FUCK?’)”
