Jul. 6th, 2019 03:47 pmI want to run a potentially silly plan by you peeps.
So, I’m taking a bunch of geology classes this semester coming up. I have not taken geology classes in-- some time, let’s say. And because I haven’t been using that knowledge constantly, I think a bunch of it has either gone dormant or fallen out of my head. Which means I need to revise.
I’m thinking of liveblogging my revision. There’s a few reasons for this:
- Having an audience that expects means I’m more likely to do it, because it’d be embarassing if I didn’t
- It will also make me actually look up pictures of the minerals to show people, which means I want be going “Oh, I remember what olivine looks like– wait, hang on, I don’t.”
- Explaining these concepts to a general audience is probably good revision.
- Honestly? I kinda want an excuse to explain how subduction zone lava is like chocolate sauce.
Would anyone be interested?

Date: 2019-07-06 04:16 pm (UTC)(The book-learning parts were my favourite bits of geology. I was terrible at actually working with actual rocks (fortunately I never had any intention of going past the introductory course, I just wanted to learn some stuff and pick up some miscellaneous science credits), but neat rock facts and analyses of hypotheticals are great.)
