Wheew, another year of Dragon Age Rare pairs!

No matter what you make,I'm probably going to really like it, but I know it's much easier to come up with an idea if you've got some guidance.

If you have an idea unrelated to these prompts, also go ahead! I’m guaranteed to like what you make. I’ve also got why I like certain ships mixed in with the prompts. While I’ve listed separate art prompts for most of the ships, feel free to use the writing prompts as art prompts (or the art prompts as writing prompts!) Length is not related to how much I like the ships, and more to how many prompts I could come up with off the top of my head. (And lack of art prompts isn’t related to whether I want art for a ship or not, but likewise to whether I could think of one off the top of my head.)

Things I Like:

fluff that has a minor conflict. Things like ‘my SO has had a bad day: I'm gonna make it better!’ or ‘oh no, we forgot that [event] is coming up and have to quickly prepare!’
Hurt/comfort (hurt/comfort > comfort no hurt > hurt no comfort.)
Angst with a happy ending
Mutual pining/wanting to get together but not be able because [reason], with [reason] being resolved at the end
Kissing! Forehead kisses, kisses on the cheek, full on make outs: kissing is great!
Cuddling! I feel the same way about cuddling as I do about kissing! It’s all good. I especially like characters falling asleep leaning against each other.
For some ships (they'll be specified in the prompts) I like exploring the messed up dynamics and/or the terrible-idea-ness of the relationship. (Drawing that symbolically is highly encouraged)
I love characters giving into temptation, for lack of a better description? Like, knowing that a particular relationship is a bad idea, but going into it anyway.
While I love fluff deeply, with femslash I also love stories where the protagonists are flawed, or the plot ends up dark, or both.
Politics! I love characters trying to navigate it, the tension between their political persona and they’re actual persona, the ethical dilemmas of power, all of it!
Loyalty. Intense loyalties, conflicted loyalties: they're all good.
Dancing, either partner dances or just both people happening to dance at the same time. -Religion, religious discussions and worldbuilding about religion.
For art, I like coloured lighting and unusual/restricted palettes. For example, things like the palettes in this

Horses! Whether they're just in the background, or are a major part of the art/plot. I love horses

Smut Likes: - People being supernaturally horny, for example sex pollen or A/B/O. Bonus points if it is somehow pre negotiated (eg someone arranging for a particular person to help them through their heat in an A/B/O setting.) - Rope bondage. - Oral sex. Of all kinds, though I have a particular soft spot for cunnilingus. - Explicit negotiation. - Consentacles - Intercrural sex - Praise kink - Chastity kink - Sadism and masochism/painplay

DNWs: - Torture being portrayed as good or effective - Explicit on-screen rape (I don’t mind it being mentioned, but I do mind stories going into detail about it. Eg Shianni's backstory being relevant to a story: thumbs up. Story that's all about what happened when Shianni was kidnapped Vaughan: no thank you.)

Ships and Prompts

Merrill/Female Hawke:

While I always like hurt/comfort, I’d especially like h/c for this pair, whether it’s in the form of ‘comforting each other while they grieve the people they’ve lost’ or ‘one of them gets a cold and the other nurses them back to health’
or fluff! Fluff is good!
Hawke and Merrill get separated from the rest of their party in the wilderness, and Merrill uses her Dalish knowledge to help get them out.
Merrill teaches mage!hawke blood magic
For art, fighting together as a team!

Aveline Vallen/Female Hawke:

I love the tension between Aveline’s role as captain of the guard and as Hawke’s friend/lover, considering how many questionably legal things Hawke does.
I also love Aveline’s awkwardness and inability to articulate herself romantically
Aveline recruiting Hawke’s other friends to help her flirt with Hawke would be hilarious.
Aveline recruiting Hawke to help her flirt with Hawke would be double hilarious.
For art: Aveline giving Hawke a meaningful gift (with Aveline being the only one who understands it’s meaning, probably) or going on a walk through Kirkwall together.

Fenris/Sebastian Vael:

I’d love discussions between these two about their belief (or non-belief) in the Maker, building off their banter conversations.
For art or fic: Sebastian introducing Fenris to Andrastian/Free Marches festivals.
Fenris deserves good things, and some tooth rotting fluff wouldn’t go astray.
In fic, I like it when it’s acknowledged that Sebastian wasn’t always an innocent Chantry boy, and he knows what sex, drugs (and rock’n’roll) are, even if he doesn’t partake at the present time.
For this ship, I'd rather not have smut please.

Male Hawke/Sebastian Vael:

You may have noticed a theme in my Sebastian ship prompts with ‘religious discussions.’ I just love characters discussing religion, and how different beliefs change how people relate to each other. I don’t have a Male Hawke, so feel free to make Hawke’s religious views whatever you want.
For art or fic: Celebrating religious holidays together.
In fic, I like it when it’s acknowledged that Sebastian wasn’t always an innocent Chantry boy, and he knows what sex, drugs (and rock’n’roll) are, even if he doesn’t partake at the present time.
While I don’t mind Seb and Hawke having a sexual relationship, I love the idea of them being aggressively chaste and even more aggressively schmoopy.

Anders/Sebastian Vael:

This ship is somewhat nonsensical, I first thought of it when doing nominations, but I love it already.
Anders and Sebastian both believe in the Maker, but at very different angles, so maybe have them having a friendly debate about their beliefs?
I kind of love the idea of Sebastian going ‘okay, I am NOT going to date the apostate, that is a terrible idea... okay, too late, at least I can’t make it worse... aaaaand there goes my vows. Damn it.’ Just a slow, halting backslide(?) that Sebastian can’t stop. (Bonus points for Anders also going ‘I am not going to date the literal Chantry brother-- damnit.’)
For art or fic: Sebastian helping out Anders at the clinic. It may not be official channels, Anders may be an apostate, but helping people is more important than either of those. (And maybe if he’s closer to Anders, Sebastian thinks, he can convince him to stop being an apostate and go to the Circle.)
Playing with the fact that if they are in a relationship, Anders blowing up the Chantry is even more of a betrayal.
Or the fact that Sebastian Vael is at first motivated by vengeance, and Anders shares his body with a spirit of Justice/Vengeance

Another art prompt: Blow me away with schmoopiness. Kissing each other on the forehead, that kinda stuff.

Female Aeducan/Zevran Arainai:

Sometimes an exiled noble needs the help of an assassin to kill her other brother. Sometimes an assassin needs directions in Orzammar. Sometimes the two fall in love despite the better judgment of both.
I also like them falling in love over the course of beating the Blight. From the ‘oh no they’re hot’ of their first meeting to the ‘oh no I’m in love’ of later.

Leliana/Female Tabris:

I am always here for discussion of religion. Especially considering that in Origins, Leliana is an eensy bit of a heretic, and I’m not sure how comfortable Andrastianism is for the average city elf or Tabris in particular.
Leliana and Tabris both have sucky pasts, and it would be nice to see them comforting each other over that
Leliana and Tabris sharing stories, both folklore and ‘did I ever tell you about that one ball?’ or ‘so, when Shianni was six--’
For art or fic: Leliana and Tabris wandering the world after the Blight, possibly as actual minstrels?

Cassandra Pentaghast/Josephine Montilyet:

Part of me loves the idea of them trying to woo each other in a ‘proper’ manner, but having difficulties because Cassandra got her idea of proper from mostly books, and Josephine got it from active in the nobility/being diplomatic, and those two things do not have a lot of overlap.
Or Cassandra tries to do a whole Courtly Love thing (featuring your love not being requited but it not mattering, grand gestures of affection, think Arthurian stuff) and being foiled by the fact Josie likes her back.
For art, either a drawing of the Grand Gestures, or them reading together would be nice.
It could be interesting to look at how Cassandra has rejected her nobility to do good in the world, while Josephine has embraced it.

Zevran Arainai/Male Tabris, Zevran Arainai/Male Surana:

How does the trust between them grow, considering their first meeting? What was the moment that they realised they trusted/loved the other?
Did they grow close because of the fact they were the only two elves in Team Stop The Blight, of in spite of it? -How do the deal with the fact that they have feelings for each other. (Considering what Zevran is like--)

Female Adaar/Josephine Montilyet, Female Cadash/Josephine Montilyet:

I am a sucker for class/social standing disparities in ships, what can I say? Any exploration of that would be very interesting: Did the Inquisitor think that Josephine would look down on her nose at them, and was pleasantly surprised? Do the Inquisitor and Josie have very different ideas on how to flirt and woo someone, and keep accidentally sending mixed messages? Did the Inquisitor originally think Josephine was unattainable? How does her family feel about that match (Are the horrified, or pleased they've now got an in with the Inquisition/Carta/Tal-Vashoth mercenaries?)
Giving each other gifts
Inquisitor convinces Josephine to sing/play whatever instrument she played as a bard for her, and is very impressed -For art, ballroom dancing would be nice. In the fanciest of dresses.

Josephine Montilyet/Vivienne: - Ah, two lovely game playing ladies. I wish I had some more specific prompts for this ship! - In general, I'm really interested in how they both politic, and how even though they have similar motives and methods, they leave very different impressions. - How do they feel about how the other plays the Game? Do they find the other's methods off putting or strange at first, but then grow to understand each other better? Do they consider each other rivals at first, or are they allies at the start? - I'm not sure the timeline matches up, but maybe Josephine first met Vivienne when she was a bard? - (Re Duke Bastien: I'm fine if any fic or art ends up taking the 'Vivienne is in a poly-V with Bastien and Josephine, but it's in the background', 'Bastien is dead by the time Josie and Vivienne get together' or 'Bastien who?' approaches.)

Mouse/Male Surana, Male Amell/Mouse:

Is Mouse a pride demon, or a spirit of wisdom? Or is he actually what he claims to be? Or some combination? Does Surana or Amell know?
Mouse keeps showing up in the Warden's dreams. He is very hard to dissuade.
The Warden and Mouse meet up again when the Warden is trapped in the Fade during Broken Circle.
One of the things I like about the ship is playing with pre-concieved notions, and how Mouse manages to keep the Warden very off balance.

Zevran Araina/Taliesen, Zevran Arainai/Rinna/Taliesen:

I'm really interested in the dynamic between these characters, especially with the fact that the Crows both seem to realise that they are an effective team, but also doesn't want them getting too close
How did Rinna's "betrayal" go down? What we're Taliesen's feelings about it? What were Rinna's?
What was life with the Crows like for them?
How do Taliesen and Zevran feel when Taliesen shows up in Denerim to retrieve him? (Does this Zevran betray the Warden, or not? How does he feel about either option?)

OCs

I thought I’d list out the traits of some of my player characters. However, these are totally optional. If you want to write your own Hawke, Inquistor, or Warden, go ahead! These are here if more guidelines would be helpful, not if they make it more difficult.

Sereda Aeducan :

A power hungry political animal, who tends to make the moral choice mostly because it’s good PR. Will sell you to Satan for one corn chip.
Would very much like to be Dwarven nobility again, not willing to work with Bhelen to get it.
