Under a cut, because even though they are positive, the shadows of COVID lingers over them.
I have a new phone now. Partially because of a "there's a hole in my bucket, dear Liza" chain involving university policy, the government COVID app and the fact that my old phone was very old. The other reason being, well, my old phone could have been going to kindergarten, and while I don't like giving up on technological devices that still function, it is better to do a swap over when things are still functioning. The guy at the 'Everything But The Phone Store' who helped with the screen protector and swapping over the SIM cards was impressed the old phone was still trucking-- apparently you don't see many of them around any more. Which I'm taking as a positive sign for both my ability to keep tech going, and also '...yeah, I should probably replace this sooner rather than later.'
Also, horse riding has started back up! We started with a trail ride, where I got to ride a horse I hadn't ridden before (Coco, who despite the stereotypes about chestnut mares, is a sweetie.) Also, we got to canter outdoors three times! Even if that was maybe not a brilliant idea, because the third canter did not go well. Two previous canters, which made the horses more amped up + the fact that these horses hadn't been ridden much for a while + cantering in the direction of home= a bad combination, which made Yeti buck and nearly kick Coco, and turned Gary into a cross between Sonic the Hedgehog and 'Take Me Home Country Roads." But otherwise pretty good.
The newest addition to my uncle's dog pack (sorta, she's his girlfriends dog, and when he moved in with her they formed a blended doggy family) is starting to like me. I even got a cuddle. She is a shy thing, so I feel Deeply Honoured.
