Trick or Treat 2020 Letter
Sep. 12th, 2020 10:46 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Hello, person who has matched with me, or is treating me! No matter what you make, I'm probably going to really like it, but I know it's much easier to come up with an idea if you've got some guidance.
Length is not related to how much I like the characters, and more related to how much I can ramble about them off the top of my head. My ao3 account and my tumblr are both wolffyluna, if you want to have a look at them to get ideas.
I am requesting art and fic for all requests, and requesting tricks and treats for all requests.
I am open to all songs for the Battle of the Bands.

- I like the whole gamut from fluff with a minor conflict to angst that gets resolved to completely tragic tragedies. - Tragedies that are inevitable and tragedies where the ground work for them was laid well before anyone could predict the tragic outcome so as soon as the characters know a tragic outcome is possibility it is too late, are both very good. - As are bittersweet endings, or angst with a happy ending
- Hurt/comfort (hurt/comfort > comfort no hurt > hurt no comfort.) - I like comforters who are being/trying to be relentlessly practical, or who express their care for the comfortee through actions more than words. - comforters and comfortees trying to be stoic (and not necessarily succeeding). - comforters and comfortees pretending that what is going on has nothing to do with one of them being hurt, they’re just being randomly nice/ they’re not hurt at all! - comfort after nightmares/panic attacks/other PTSD symptoms is very good - As is comfort after more recent traumatic events, such as tending injuries after a battle or a character has been rescued from captivity
- Mutual pining/wanting to get together but not be able because [reason], with [reason] being resolved at the end (example reasons: mistaken identity, “I am your boss and it would be unethical”, but in general I am not picky about this dynamic)
- (Or, of course “I should not take advantage of you!” “You are very much not taking advantage of me, what are you talking about?”)
- Kissing! Forehead kisses, kisses on the cheek, full on make outs: kissing is great!
- Cuddling! I feel the same way about cuddling as I do about kissing! It’s all good. I especially like characters falling asleep leaning against each other.
- I like exploring the messed up dynamics and/or the terrible-idea-ness of the relationship, if applicable.
- Characters giving into temptation, eg knowing that a particular relationship is a bad idea, or would be breaking their vow of chastity, but going into it anyway.
- Politics! I love characters trying to navigate it, the tension between their political persona and they’re actual persona, the ethical dilemmas of power, all of it!
- Loyalty, fealty, feudalism, ‘is it gay or just feudalism?’. Intense loyalties, conflicted loyalties: they're all good.
- Dancing, either partner dances or just both people happening to dance at the same time.
- Hair, hair brushing and hair braiding.
- Crossdressing
- Religion, religious discussions and worldbuilding about religion. - I am not invested in any particular religion being right or wrong in a given particular fictional work or world, and I am happy with whatever interpretation you would like to pick. I’ll be thrilled either way!
- Horses! Whether they're just in the background, or are a major part of the art/plot. I love horses.
- “What if X happened instead of what happened in canon?”/”What if Y didn’t die?”/canon divergence AUs
- Crying
- Third and second person POV
- As a general note: anything I’ve mentioned in my general likes (or smut likes), I also like in art. I’ve copied over most of the relevant likes over here as well, so they’re easy to find, but if there’s something in the above list that takes your fancy as something to put in art, go right ahead!

- Oral, intercrural, anal and vaginal sex are all good (though I have a particular soft spot for the first two).
- People being supernaturally horny, for example sex pollen or omegaverse/heatverses.
- All consuming heats that take over people’s brains are also very very good, especially if they are intermixed with being overwhelmed.
- Also deliberate use of sex pollen, either by the people sex pollenening themselves, or an antagonist doing it
- In omegaverse, I like knots and ludicrous amounts of slick, but can take or leave omega oppression/gender roles and claiming.
- All consuming heats that take over people’s brains are also very very good, especially if they are intermixed with being overwhelmed.
- Rope bondage.
- Explicit negotiation. (Even deeply dorky negotiation)
- Consentacles
- Hair kink/focus on hair.
- Praise kink
- Mild sadism and masochism/painplay. (For example: whipping? Yes please! Whipping until the skin is stripped off a character’s back: no thank you. In general, extreme pain or injuries that can’t fully heal is past what I’d like it (though in a setting with magical healing, I’m more comfortable with more extreme things if it’s established the characters will be healed.))
- Ritual sex/deliberately public sex (ie, the public intended to be there to watch)
- “Forced” orgasms, multiple orgasms, orgasm control/denial, and chastity kink
- Crossdressing
- Sex toys and fucking machines
- Overstimulation/being overwhelmed with sensation. ‘Getting fucked out of their brains’
- Crying, either due to overstimulation or due to high emotions
- Size kink, both of the large penises/dildos/penetrating things and the small penises/dildos/penetrating things varieties.
- stomach bulges are a lovely bonus to ‘very big’ size kink
- ‘Thank God We Lived’ Sex
- D/s, especially when the dom is of a more caring flavour
- Cosmic horror
- Psychological horror
- Religious horror
- Surreal horror
- Oppressive atmospheres
- Characters becoming the worst (or bestworst?) versions of themselves.
- Torture being portrayed as good or effective. (Torture happening: very much fine by me. The ‘good guys’/protagonists torturing people: do not want. People achieving their goals through torture (eg getting secret information): also do not want )
- Impregnation
- Daddy kink/ mommy kink / family terms being used in sex
- sexual punishment/ ‘for realsies’ punishment in a BDSM relationship. (Funishment and ‘oh no, not the briar patch!’ is fine.)
- Explicit underage (<18) sex. (Fade to blacks, heavy implications, and surreal weirdness in the place of it are fine)
- Parental or sibling incest
*默读/ Mo Du/ Silent Reading/ Light in the Night – priest *
I love the amount of characterisation in Mo Du, even just for the minor characters. Everyone gets thoughts and feelings and motivations, even if they don’t get looked at in depth, and you can tell that narrative really cares about people. I also love the twists and turns in the narrative, the moments where you are torn between “wHAT?!” and “Of course! That makes total sense!”
The relationship and the build-up of the relationship between Luo Wenzhou and Fei Du is really great.
I also love the prose, if you feel up for a pastiche.
Fei Du
Romantic Relationships I like: Fei Du/Luo Wenzhou
Gen Relationships I like: Fei Du & Tao Ran, Fei Du & Xiao Haiyang, Fei Du & Lu Jia, Fei Du & Zhang Donglai
I love how he is a social chameleon, who knows exactly what to say to fit in or make you like him—or troll you completely and drive you round the bend. I also love how he’s calculating all the time—what will happen if does this, or this? What will get him what he wants.
And I love how he Sure Does Have a Backstory. And his self-hatred, his fear of himself, the way he holds his own life pretty cheaply—it’s so good. I love characters exploring feelings of monstrosity, or the fear that they are dangerous or evil or should not have ever existed. Hits all my whump buttons. Exploring potential ‘bad ends’—nearly getting killed in one of his schemes, accidentally becoming the monster he was trying to avoid becoming—would be great for a trick! Or potentially hurt/comfort, if you are in a more treat-y mood?
I love Age of Sigmar’s fantasy kitchen sink-ness, epic scale, and general ‘wizard airbrushed on the side of a van’ aesthetic. Everything is BIG and AWESOME and there are cities riding on the backs of giant worms, soul-stealing underwater elves, lightning zombies einherjar, and humans who have got dumped in the middle of all of this.
Zana Mathos
Romantic Relationships I like: Zana Mathos/Owain Volker
Gen Relationships I like: Zana Mathos & Owain Volker, Zana Mathos & Grungi
I love her snark and wise cracking (“I CAN’T TAKE YOU ANYWHERE!”), and her general tendency to be the person with the most common sense in the room—mostly because she tends to share rooms with people like Roggen and Volker. And I love her badss-ery, how well she handles pressure. I’m also fascinated by her implied backstory, where she managed to, as a mercenary, get a higher price on her head than on her services? There’s definitely a story behind that. And also her relationship with Grungi, who is the dwarf god of smiths, neither of which she is!
I also really like her chemistry and relationship with Volker, whether it’s what Josh Reynolds thinks it is (“They are good friends. Good. Friends.) or what the voice actors think it is (“And they shall have a summer wedding!”)
Zana is featured in the novel Eight Lamentations: Spear of Shadows by Josh Reynolds, and the audio drama Eight Lamentations: War Claw.
Oh, poor Keychain of Creation, gone the way of so many other webcomics—put on permanent hiatus before the author got a chance to finish it. Even so, it is a comic that is near and dear to my heart.
Keychain of Creation is an Exalted fan webcomic, that is to Exalted what a lot of DnD actual play podcasts are to DnD. It has an Exalted setting, with original characters and some original worldbuilding, and a fair amount taking the piss out of the Exalted setting.
Exalted is a setting full of powerful heroes, given a fraction of a god’s power to go lay righteous smackdown. Our four heroes are on a quest to find the 5 Keys of Creation, to make sure no evildoers gain access to all five, and thus gain the ability to open any lock (including the ones holding back the eldritch abominations that want to destroy the world.) …They are not necessarily good at this.
I love the mix of proper Exalted flavour over-the-top action and the humour, combined with characters that are the right level of ‘Yep, I can see why this person was chosen as a champion of the gods’ while still coming across as human. …also I have a soft spot for the fact literally everyone has a sad backstory. (Feel free to wallow in the characters’ sad backstories. I love it. Sad backstories are the best.)
As a note, considering this comic ended rather abruptly-- I am fine with any take on what happened after canon ended. If you want to set your fic or art after what we last saw in the comics, feel free to do so?
Thrice Radiant Misho
Romantic Relationships I like: Misho/Marena, Misho/Resch Dan, Misho/The Older Fae Brother (NB: Misho is one of my little black dresses, so these are just examples. Please feel free to ship him with whoever you like!)
Gen Relationships I like: Misho & Marena, Misho & Mew Cai, Misho & Ten Winds, Misho & Secret, Misho & The Fae Brothers
I love how compassionate and caring he is (even when it gets the better of him)! He really cares about people, and applies his whole mind to it, and it’s great. He is not good at dealing with having responsibility, but he’s going to try and do his best anyway.
I also love how he’s a little pile of reincarnation angst. That is a fun flavour of angst. Missing people a thousand years dead, having the identity issues of not properly remembering one of your pasts—It’s great.
I’d be interested in fics that tried to navigate either of those two things, either in fluffy (“Goddamnit Misho, I am going to distract you from panicking about having to save the world!”) or angsty ways (pining over people who are long dead.)
Hurt/comfort with him is also very fun, whether it’s because of his reincarnation angst, nightmares, or something else.
Ah, the Magnus Archives: the setting where metaphysics hates you! I really like its dark, nihilistic worldbuilding, where the greatest victory you can get is maybe delaying an apocalypse. (And even then...) Meanwhile your mental health is being abraded by entities greater than human comprehension that think your fear is a delicious snack.
And I love the characters! All of them! Even a lot of the random statement givers! No one is coping or having a good time of it. …Except maybe some of the avatars. But not many of them.
As a note: One of the things I like about this fandom is its dark tone. I’m certainly not against fluff, or softness in fic or art—but I’d prefer it if said fluff or softness is in response to the darkness, if it’s present. Hurt/comfort > pure fluff, basically.
Gerard Keay
Romantic Relationships I like: Gerry/Gertrude, Gerry/Jon, Gerry/Michael Shelley (NB: Gerry is one of my little black dresses, so these are just examples. Please feel free to ship him with whoever you like!)
Gen Relationships I like: Gerry & Gertrude, Gerry & Jon, Gerry & Mary, Gerry & Sasha
I love his sense of humour (I’d give specific quotes, but that would be… a large chunk of Family Business) and the fact that he does care about keeping people safe (for example giving Andrea Nunis the knowledge she needed to escape from the Lonely, or helping Lesere Saraki.) He really does want to save people, and he really does care about them, even if he’s well aware he’s in a universe that wants to eat you whole.
I also love how his story intersects with themes of choice in TMA. He gets lead around by the nose by fate a lot, which makes the choices he makes all the more interesting (eg tying himself to the Beholding, joining Gertrude).
He also is a very good target for hurt/comfort. Which is nice. (Though of course, feel free to do something else!) He has basically never had a good time of it.
I am quite happy with fic set pre-death, or any variant of a Gerry Lives AU (eg ‘he never died’ to ‘he is still a ghost attached to the Skin Book’). I am also equally happy with fluffy Gerry Lives AUs, and darker ones (eg Jon does not burn his page, and Gerry is not happy about that but can’t really do anything on account of being a ghost.)
The Silmarillion! I love all the opportunities for delicious angst, and the many different character interpretations that can all be correct because each character gets, like, two lines of direct dialogue a piece. I also love the tragedy and capital-D Doom in the Silmarillion, as you can probably guess by what characters I’ve picked.
I am also sucker for the parental relationships in the Silmarillion.
I prefer the version of Tar Miriel from the published Silm, where she doesn’t willingly marry Ar-Pharazon. I really like her faith, and the contradiction of her being in theory very powerful as Queen while still not having very much ability to get the things she wants.
With Maeglin, I do like the more sympathetic ‘Maeglin did nothing wrong, no, really’ interpretations, but I also really like darker, more ambitious, ‘actually would sell out Gondolin if it means he could rule it’ interpretations. Sympathy for the devil, if you will.
As a Silm specific note to my torture DNW: I would prefer it if Maeglin either gives away Gondolin’s location away willingly or Angband found it out by other means but tortured him anyway for whatever reason. I do not want him to give up Gondolin’s location due to torture (but giving it up due to the threat of torture is fine.)
Maeglin
Romantic Relationships I like: Maeglin/Celebrimbor, Maeglin/Túrin, Maeglin/Finduilas (NB: Maeglin is one of my little black dresses, so these are just examples. Please feel free to ship him with whoever you like!)
Gen Relationships I like: Maeglin & Celebrimbor, Maeglin & Aredhel, Maeglin & Turgon, Maeglin & Tuor, Maeglin & Rog
I love this prickly, hyper-competent, arrogant bastard. I love the contrast between the fact that he doesn’t seem to like people very much, yet he’s very charismatic.
And I love the tragedy of him. He is so fucking Doomed, no matter which way you slice it, and things really do not go well for him.
I am very invested in people managing to draw him out of his shell, or maybe get brought into his shell with him (it’s cozy in there. Dark, but cozy.) Or very ill-advised relationships that inevitably go down in flames.
I am more than happy for any AUs that end up with him being in a different place and meeting different people than he does in canon; eg Nargothrond AUs or Doriath AUs. I am also quite happy with him being in Gondolin.
As a note on the intersection of him and my effective torture DNW: I do not mind Maeglin giving up Gondolin’s location willingly, for whatever reasons. I do not mind him being tortured in Angband, provided Angband finds out Gondolin’s location some other. I very much do mind if Maeglin gives up the location of Gondolin due to torture.
Tar Miriel
Romantic Relationships I like: Tar Miriel/Uinen, Tar Miriel/Original Númenorean Female Character of Your Choice
Gen Relationships I like: Tar Miriel & Tar Palantir, Tar Miriel & The Faithul
I love the quiet tragedy of her. She’s a Faithful queen, and maybe in the past that would have worked out well? But she lives in late Númenor, and there’s no way she can achieve what she wants. Heck, she isn’t even in a political position to rule on her own, and has to give up the sceptre to someone she had to marry. It’s very sad and sombre, and I really like it.
I also love the ways you can use her to explore the empty spaces of the worldbuilding of Late Númenor. What are the Faithful like, what do they do, how do they worship? What is the political system like, how does it work and who holds the levers of power?
In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war—and epic scales and incredible badass-ery. One of the things I love about 40k is just how grand scale and big things can get, and how the inevitable crushing darkness and decay of the universe gets used a set piece to make the main characters even more epic and badass. Your Craftworld may be facing total destruction—but that just means you have the narrative backing to go stab the hive tyrant. It’s always thirty seconds to midnight, and the brakes on the disaster train are off.
I also just love sci-fi kitchen sink space operas.
Prince Yriel
Romantic Relationships I like: Prince Yriel/Yaleanar, Yriel/Iyanna Arienal, Yriel/Kelmon Farsight, Yriel/Sylandri Veilwalker (NB: Yriel is one of my little black dresses, so these are just examples. Please feel free to ship him with whoever you like!)
Gen Relationships I like: Yriel & Taec Silvereye, Yriel & Yaleanar, Yriel & Iyanna Arienal, Yriel & Kelmon Farshight, Yriel & Sylandri Veilwalker
Yriel is just so great, and comes in two great flavours. First, you have Yriel as the pirate prince. Tactical maverick, chip on his shoulder about exiling himself from Iyanden, and has an excuse to take his brakes totally off. He is epic and piratical and angry and lil’ bit amoral and it is so good.
But then you have him after he returns, and after he takes up the Spear of Twilight. And then he still is a brilliant TACTICAL GENIUS who gets to do epic feats of badassery—but now he is doomed to be consumed by the Spear. And he’s slowly becoming a worse version of himself, who is angry and in pain all the time and who is only really functional during war—and it hits all my whump loving buttons. He just suffers so aesthetically!
Plus the Doomed if he does and Doomed if he doesn’t aspect of how both his presence and absence damaged Iyanden is so good.
Note: Valedor by Guy Haley has some Yriel content that includes actual direct dialogue and narrative and all that good stuff. But equally, the Warhammer 40k wikia is also plenty to go on. (NB: For peeps new to Warhammer, canon reviews via wiki makes more sense than it does for other canons.) Also, presumably there is stuff for him in the Iyanden Codex supplement? But I have not read it, so I cannot vouch for it.
I love the character dynamics in this, and the ambient suckitude going on in their lives (excluding after the True Ending), the huge personal revelations happening in the middle of the night at summer camp. I also love the nightmare-logic Protestantism going on. As someone who likes bad things happen to characters that maybe get made better, and religious themes, this is very much a canon made for me!
And did I mention the characters? I love them all, especially Venus. They are the best worst girls. I love the layers to them, and how they are all more than what they initially seem to be. There all observant, and they care deeply about wrong and right, but they don’t necessarily have the power to change things (until the true ending, that is.) And they all need a hug.
I am quite happy for fic or art based on any of the routes/endings.
Venus, Jupiter, Neptune
Romantic Relationships I like: Venus/Neptune, Venus/Jupiter, Jupiter/Neptune Venus/Neptune/Jupiter
Gen Relationships I like: Venus & Neptune, Venus & Jupiter, Venus & Neptune & Jupiter
For tricks, feel free to lean into the psychological/religious/body horror aspects of canon, or having to work out how to live your life after the revelation of being the Devil.
Venus /& Jupiter
I love the dynamic they have as the ‘best’ kids of Group West, who are really bad at being actually good. They may seem more good from the outside than Neptune, but... And the Seven Minutes In Heaven scene, with it’s horrible awkwardness and the tension between what they want to want and what they actually do and the near strangulation is so good. As is the conversation they have about authority and not having to touch someone to touch them.
Venus /& Neptune
Just as Venus+Jupiter is the better kids vs the bad kid, Venus+Neptune is the bad kids vs the good kid who failed, and that’s so good. And I love how insightful they are with each other even if they don’t fully get it (eg the “your kindness will be full of that want” conversation, while Venus is trying to comfort Neptune as best she can.) And the contrast between rule breaking Neptune and “That’s! I’m! Illegal!” Venus is so great too.
Jupiter /& Neptune
It’s about the yearning, it’s about the wanting what you can’t have outside of a locked cupboard, and the ‘opposites attract’ nature of their relationship. It’s so good.
Venus /& Jupiter /& Neptune
I love them all, and I love them all being in a relationship. The way they work together, the way in the true ending they all lift each other up and try to make the camp/the world a better place, being the worst girls since Eve... It’s so good, I love it.
