I am soon (read: in a few days) going to be going on a 12 hour flight. If you have any
- podcasts you can recommend binging (I like history and science for non-fiction, and I like horror, sci fi, fantasy and actual play for fiction)
- minecraft videos (both in the form of "you should watch so and so's last life POV" or "here is the Ideal List of secret life videos to watch" or "I am ordering you to have Las Nevadas Takes, and here are the vods you need to watch for that")
- documentaries what are on Netflix or YouTube
I am all ears

Date: 2023-12-02 12:52 am (UTC)for history: i hear excellent things about Revolutions and if you do take a shine to that, it's like hundreds of hours to keep you busy lol. i listened to The Age of Napoleon podcast for ~20 eps while commuting and really enjoyed it; didn't know anything about Napoleon before and learned some things
for history-ish: Cheat! was a pretty fun relatively-lighthearted podcast that did non-murder non-serial-killing kinda true crime things. think: interesting instances of financial fraud, "dine and dash dater", weird instances of plagiarism or lying-about-background-for-admission type deals, etc. it's been discontinued but you can listen to the whole archive. i also liked the most recent season of The Last Archive https://www.thelastarchive.com/season-4-1 ; lots of random 1900s American history curios in there
science: i haven't listened yet but i've been looking forward to The Studies Show, which goes over science controversies and reads the studies to see what's up.
let's play...ish?: once i listened to Every Day's Great over the course of four cross-country flights even though i'd only ever played ~5hrs of Persona 4: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/every-days-great-persona-day-by-day/id1228998470 hosts are tremendously charismatic so if you're into "dudes chatting about a game that sure sounds interesting" it may be your kind of thing
documentaries: Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room is great if you love watching white collar crime. no idea if it's on netflix anymore but it was at some point
have a safe flight!

Date: 2023-12-03 05:39 am (UTC)i am going to recommend mabel podcast! it is a horror/fantasy/mystery/romance podcast about a woman named anna limon working as a live-in carer for an old woman, trying to get in contact with her patient's last living relative: her granddaughter, mabel martin, who seems to have vanished off the face of the earth. very weird, great sound design, goes a lot of places you wouldn't expect, and the entire thing is written like poetry. if that's your kind of thing, i'd highly recommend it!
