The Wolffy has a State
Mar. 31st, 2019 06:08 pm- I am being somewhat eaten by university work, due to having three assignments due with in... 5? days of each other. Fun fact: for one of those assignments, the lecturer thought it was due two weeks later than it actually was! ...and told us that. (This particular lecturer and subject are a bit of a frustration.)
- The bits of me that have not been eaten by university have been eaten by a podfic project, namely turning These Gifts That You Have Given Me by
thearrogantemu into a podfic. (Prompted by my illness a couple of weeks ago, that left me unable to sit up to read fic, and filled with a deep desire to read an old favourite. So this will be a gift to my future/past sick self. ...and anyone else who wants a podfic version of this fic. It is really rather good. Enough to make me want to record and edit ~11 hours of audio.)
- The local library has some Courtney Milan books! I have borrowed one, because I hear her work is generally good. This will unfortunately shuffle the KJ Charles book down the schedule a bit, due to it not being on a deadline.
- Horse riding has been happening, including a near fall! During safety week, off all things, because of course. We were doing a canter exercise, where every five strides we would stand up into two point (the jumping/~racing position) for a stride, and then sit back down. I managed the standing up fine! ...I did not manage the sit down. And got thrown forwards, and had to cling on to the horse's neck while cantering. But I stayed on! And managed to get back in the saddle once the horse eventually stopped (because I'd ended up more or less on his shoulders.) My riding teacher was impressed with my save, which is nice? (Our riding school has philosophical position that you should do whatever you need to to stay on. They don't teach us how to fall 'properly,' because in their mind, if you have enough time+coordination to fall off right, you have enough to stay on and not hit the ground and injure yourself. Which seems pretty sensible with the school horses, especially because you can rely on them to stop... eventually.)
