research is haaaaard~

I am very annoyed by the fact that most advice on exercise on the internet is garbage, or all about losing weight (feel free to insert your own "why did you list the same thing twice? HEYO!" joke here.) Because this is a topic that I don't know much about, so I can't sift the sensible advice from the bullshit.
I just want to make specific muscles stronger, damnit!
I've got to the point in horse riding where my core and my leg muscles aren't strong enough for the things I need to do with them, and I don't think one hour a week of horse riding is going to strengthen them enough . (... okay, this has actually been a problem from when I started riding /mumblemumble/ years ago, but it's got the point where I want to fix it.)
But I also don't want to accidentally hurt myself following bad advice. Or accidentally spend a lot of effort doing exercises that are meant to make your abs look pretty, instead of making your core strong.
Also, there's the secondary problem that while I'm sure there is a wealth of exercises designed to get horse riders stronger, I'm pretty sure most hits for 'horse riding exercise' will be eg "How to keep your horse's topline supple in 5 easy steps!" (What about my topline, huh?)
Anyway, this is to say I'm going to have to research the thing. Critically. And then do some exercise.
... not sure which will be more annoying
