My writing skills have caught up with my art skills, and I've reached an awkward part of the learning process. I'm at the "I Know What I'm About, Son," stage! Which is good, because it means I'm learning, but it's also a little frustrating.

You know the point when you're learning a skill where you've still got a lot to learn, but all the tutorials/advice articles/etc aimed at beginners become irrelevant. Like, "Yes, I know that being able to draw simple shapes like cubes is important to being able to do complex ones, but I already know that" or "yeah, I know that plots should have conflict, you don't need to tell me that again, just tell me about structure, Which I Supposedly The Point Of This Article."

Which I'm taking as a sign that I've got the basics down! But it is also a little frustrating, because advice is still good, I am actively looking for advice, and all I'm getting is "Conflict is important :D Character's should have distinct voices :D"

Yeah, at that point... man, I just realized, it's been ages since I read things on the craft of writing, because at this point, it's easier for me to just read books and go, "Wow, this really didn't work. ...how come?" or "Man, WHY IS THIS SO GOOD????"

Also, "How to X" works are hit with the same Sturgeon's Law as any other genre, I figure.
