Oct. 10th, 2019 08:54 pmFun fact about the local library catalogue system: it doesn't seem to ever consider books to be lost.
I was a little confused how come a book I put a hold request on hadn't shown up. It was a real book the library said that it really had, checked out from an actual branch and not 'unknown location for item creation'. And it had been long enough since I requested it that it should be overdue now--
I went into the library catalogue, to see if it listed when the book would be due for the person that had it checked out.
It was due in 2014.
...yeah, that hold request is not being fulfilled. I was looking forward to reading another Beverly Jenkins's book, but it looks like it's not going to be that one!
I've gone and put in a request for a different Jenkins' novel, and also one of Alyssa Cole's because I've heard good things about her too. This was probably not a spectacular idea, because I a) already have one library book out, b) am about to go into finals and NaNoWriMo time and c) am about to go into university break, where I read way less-- but I have no regrets. I will have too many library books and revel in it.

Date: 2019-10-10 01:38 pm (UTC)I'm salivating over some books I want to request from the library RIGHT NOW but also have...Ocarina of Time! Exchange fic! This one Octavia Butler book I'm actually reading!!!
If I could, I'd just hole up in my cozy bed and finish everything in one go, but alas. Capitalism.

Date: 2019-10-11 09:38 am (UTC)I wish my library system had some sort of wishlist or 'remind me later' feature, because there's so many books that I want to read that I can't read right now, and I don't want to forget them-- and the only way to do anything like 'remind me later that this book exists and I want to borrow it' is to put in a hold request, which isn't *ideal*.
