Oct. 15th, 2019 08:37 pmI knew that my library was not au fait with technology, but oh my god.
I had a flash of inspiration tonight. Will My Cat Eat My Eyeballs by Caitlin Doughty is coming out soon, and maybe my library has it on order? It does! And now I have the first hold request for it, so I shall be the first person to get my hot little mitts on it!
But that prompted me to check how many hold requests I had. ...and found out that three of my hold requests had arrived, bu the library hadn't actually told me.
This is not the first time the library has informed me of a thing 90% of the time, and then failed dramatically at some point. Though when it failed to inform me a book was nearly due, at least I should have known when it was due? How was I supposed to know the hold requests had come through if I hadn't happened to check?
I'll give them until tomorrow before I start judging them. Maybe the books arrived at my local branch just before close of business, so they had time to update the website, but not send out the texts? But otherwise, what the heck, library?
...also I have three hold requests at my library, ready to be picked up. Three books, at once, a week before finals, while I'm trying to finish up a fourth library book. (And these aren't counting the books I've borrowed from the university library, and have to read.)
...I make the best borrowing decisions.
ETA: I am judging the library less. The notification text was sent today.
...though, amusingly, if you have three or more items on hold, they don't tell you what has arrived, just that 'items' have arrived.
