Jan. 2nd, 2020 01:35 pmSo, I was meant to catch some planes today.
I did not.
One plane in a nearby city got stuck, which meant the plane we were meant to get on had no crew, so was delayed by 4 hours. Then the flight we were meant to connect to got cancelled. And we could have maybe managed to get to where we were going to today, but we had dogs. Who had been in a crate for 4 hours at that point, and if we were to try getting to our destination, would have been in a crate for 13 hours.
So we cancelled all the flights, found someone who'll look after my uncle's dogs, and are trying again tomorrow. ...at 6am. Because that way even if there are rolling delays, we'll still get there. So I'm going to have to do all the plane travel malarky again, early in the morning. wheeeee.
(I'm tempted to go work out my frustrations by going on a walk, probably in the direction of a bubble tea. On the one hand, there's "only" "twice" the hazardous amount of smoke haze out there. On the other, the postal service has thrown up their hands like 'We can't! Can't do it, too much smoke, no parcels for you' and maybe I should make like the postal service?
"Became deeply frustrated and went for a walk in inclement weather" is definitely a Victorian novel cause of death, and while I'm pretty sure I wouldn't get badly injured if I tried, I should probably still not do that?)

(please note this is not actual advice or encouragement to do the thing, just commenting on how many 'haha funny story' events are only funny because things do, in fact, turn out well afterwards)

Date: 2020-01-04 06:45 am (UTC)I didn’t go for a walk, but that was probably for the best. They'd reported to air quality in a different unit than I was used to, so I thought it was "don't go out if you have asthma, otherwise you are good", when actually it was "DO NOT GO OUT, it's worse than Delhi out there." I'd gone out a bit the day before, when it was less bad, and that was deeply unpleasant even then.
