Horse Riding Remains Good

I got to ride Ernie, my favouritest horse ever! (Once upon a time, I was like 'I do not have any favourite horses, that is an immature fallacy, all horses are good horses' but now I am older and can admit it's Ernie.) He's a sweetie pie, who is also very lovely and forgiving of bad technique. Which isn't good all the time, but is good for when you are learning a technique. And his forgivingness meant I got to counter-canter for the first time. (A horse's canter isn't symmetrical, with one back foot going further forward than the other one. Generally you want the foot on the inside of whatever turn you are making to be the one going more forward, and counter canter is when you get the horse to do the opposite of that.)

And we also got to do some work on the obstacle course, that I didn't even know my riding school has.

Getting a horse to stand on a tyre simultaneously looks simple, is simple, and is surprisingly difficult to do.

Getting a horse to step off a tyre is worse.

Especially for poor Ernie, who is a little bit big and long legged for the tyres.

He also was not much of a fan of the Archway Of The Hanging Strips. He didn't spook or anything, but the 'ummmm...' was pretty obvious.
