There's an author I like, who is getting dicked around by the platform they publish on. (It's not Amazon, but if you picture something Amazon-like you wouldn't be entirely wrong.) This dicking around is not some automated system going haywire, this is targeted malice on the part of the company. (... I'm trying to be vague about the situation here, for various reasons, but let's say that while you could argue it's not malice and that it's not necessarily the platform doing it... Eeenh... You'd have to be using an unhelpful definition of those words). This dicking around involves things that would quite possibly hit this author's income.
I would like to help this author out, on account of liking their stuff and also because jeez they must be having a shitty week. The only way I know of doing that would be buying some of their books... From the platform who is being a dick. I have no idea whether the good done to the author outweighs the harm done by rewarding the platform for being Awful.

I would also probably just ask if the author is looking for a different vendor, and if they are wait until there is one (maybe kick a Ko-fi with a message like that or something to them if they have one IDK)
