Friends, Romans, countrymen: I have exciting news

I HAVE A RICE COOKER!

I have been longing for a rice cooker for some time, but I hadn't managed to get one. Especially because I was really tempted by the ones that were also electric steamers, but I didn't have a justification for an electric steamer and they were more expensive.

But then one of my mother's facebook friends was like "Rice cooker: free to a good home that will come pick it up and take it out of the house." And so off we went to pick up the rice cooker, and I only found out when I got there

It was one of those combination rice cookers and steamers! And also can do risotto, which I am less excited about but is still useful!

I have a rice cooker now!

I haven't yet had the opportunity to use it, but, soon...

Congrats! I've got one of those 8-dollar kmart ones and it's useful but not really life-changing, mostly because it's still very dumb and temperamental. I hope you find more use out of one with a little more design effort put into it than "reduce the current some when there's no water less".

Rice cookers are such amazing inventions. You can also make super fluffy pancakes and even bread in them!

Rice cooker!!! I definitely cook enough rice that it's worth it to me (just! my little rice cooker pops and gives me yummy fresh rice while I'm stir frying!) and I am ecstatic that you not only got a rice cooker, but you got a ~fancy~ combination!

I am very excited about the rice and steamed things possibilities! Most of the meals I know how to make are rice based, so having a machine do it for me instead of juggling another pot on the stove is very useful.

My roommate urged me to get one rather than make rice stovetop. I'm glad she did because it makes it foolproof.
